“I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God.” 1 Timothy 3:15
Wanda Osborne often took the time to spout a reprimand to her grandchildren for our conduct in the House of the Lord; thus we were raised with great reverence for God’s House. “Don’t run in the Church” she’d shout while we she was doing her weekly cleaning in the auditorium.
By example, her and Grandpa faithfully laid out their tithe check on the kitchen stove every Saturday evening, an act noticed by every grandchild, as routine as seeing Grandma set her curlers in her hair as Grandpa sat next to her making the final preparations for his sermon.
My grandparents taught us how to conduct ourselves in the House of God. They taught us to make Church an integral part of our lives. The services were to be honored with punctual and faithful attendance, and God’s House was to be supported with our time, talent, and treasure.
Our love for the Lord began in learning to honor His House.
How do you conduct yourself in God’s House?
