Black Plague

Posted by Jerry Osborne on Monday, December 31, 2012,
There is that which stalks Christ’s Church today like the terrible, dreaded, deadly Black Plague. This sin which is as black and damaging as any is the sin of self pity. This sin shows itself in two ways. First, it leads the person to feel sorry for himself and to feel that everyone is against him. (May I loan you my crying towel.) Second, it causes the person to feel they are doing all the work, while everyone else sits on their hands.

How the eternal work of Jesus is hindered by people wit...

Let's Face Up To Miracles

Posted by Jerry Osborne on Monday, December 31, 2012,
The miracles that God constantly, consistently works for us as a church, and as families, cannot be matched! It is marvelous what HE does in answer to prayer. Perhaps the place we are weak is in facing up to the fact that God faithfully works miracles in this day, and that He works them for us.

Let us never fail to praise HIM for that which He does. It is a miracle of God every time a soul is saved; every time the sick are healed; every time an unhappy home is made happy through Jesus; eve...

The "Jesus" Life-style

Posted by Jerry Osborne on Monday, December 31, 2012,
Victorious living and effective Christian service are not the by-product of our better selves and hard endeavors, but simply the fruit of a different life-style than our own. (Colossians 3:12-17)

When the eternal God chose to reveal Himself in His Son, He gave Him the name of the “Lamb”, which speaks of meekness; and when it was necessary for the Holy Spirit to come into the world, He was revealed under the emblem of the “Dove”, which speaks of gentleness. Is it not obvious, then, that...

There's Joy In Serving Jesus

Posted by Jerry Osborne on Monday, December 31, 2012,
With all my heart, mind, and soul I believe there is JOY in serving Jesus! There is unmatched joy in serving the Lord; it pays beyond our imaginations. You will see. You’ll see when someone runs up to you in Glory and says, “Because of you I’m here.” Such joy, how it pays to serve Jesus!

From now on until He comes, purpose to drag those tired, redeemed bones around for Jesus. “He that endures until the end shall be saved.”

Your personal life will go better,
Your married life will go ...

A Study On Stewardship

Posted by Jon Courson on Monday, December 31, 2012,
As people everywhere experience the ups and downs of the economy, the subject of our giving to God may seem badly timed.  But not really. Consider the words of Haggai the prophet: “Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; consider your ways. Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages, earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes." (Haggai 1:5-6)     Y...

The First Step To Getting

Posted by Jack Hyles on Monday, December 31, 2012,
I can't give till I learn to get. So, if I'm able to give, I must learn to get. If I am to give to you what I want to give you, if I am to serve others as I want to serve them, if I am to give to others and satisfy their needs, I must learn how to get from God.

The first step, is to get thirsty. What am I saying? Want it! "For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty and floods upon the dry ground." (Isaiah 44:3) And the thirsty can be satisfied. "Open they mouth wide, and I will fill it." ...

Stinginess

Posted by Jerry Osborne on Monday, December 31, 2012,
One of the reasons people don’t have enough, according to the Bible, is because they don’t give enough away. As it says in Proverbs 11:24, “There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.” Psalm 37:21 says, “The wicked borroweth and payeth not again: but the righteous showeth mercy, and giveth.”

You “give” to get, not “keep” to get. Giving is not God’s way of raising money. He doesn’t need your mo...

Are The Heathen Lost?

Posted by Jerry Osborne on Monday, December 31, 2012,
Have you taken your Bible and studied it out, beloved? If you have, you know that the heathen are lost! Because they have never heard the “Sweetest Story Ever Told of Jesus and His Great Love”, they will be separated forever from God and Heaven, enduring that which was prepared for the devil and his demons.

WHAT ARE THE HEATHEN LIKE? Except for the condition of their heart, they are no different than you or I.... About this one difference-- the heart condition: In these lands where the Gos...

HAVE YOU A DUEL MEMBERSHIP? MANY HAVE!

Posted by Jerry Osborne on Monday, December 31, 2012,
The membership of the Laodicean Church of Revelation chapter 3 is growing. It is a booming church today!
According to Revelation, the church is made up of people everywhere who once had a real love for Jesus; but now they have “left their first love.” They are neither HOT nor COLD, and God says He will spew them out of His mouth.

Their name may be on the roll of a sin-hating, Bible-believing church, their bones may sit in the pew Sunday after Sunday; but in God’s sight they are me...

Blurt It Out!

Posted by Jerry Osborne on Monday, December 31, 2012,
I want people in this church to know where I stand. I believe in scattering the Word without a second thought! I believe in “blurting it out.” I believe in compelling people to be saved. Yes, drag them to Jesus if you have to. This is what I believe, and I don’t care who knows it or what they think about it.

As I have told you before, I was saved the first time I heard the Gospel. No one was ever more unlikely to be saved than Jerry Osborne, with his background. Praise God Pastor Walters...

The Joyful Evangelist

Posted by Michael La Framboise on Monday, December 31, 2012,
That fall day, as he penned his last written words from a cold prison cell, he told his son in the Faith: “Do the work of an evangelist” Paul knew well the words of Isaiah who described in vivid and glorious poetry, the ministry of an evangelist. (Is 52:7-10) How beautiful the feet of an evangelist! He joyfully comes bringing the good news of peace, that there is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. He gladly shares the good things of the Lord who has blessed us with ever...

Carnality or Reality?

Posted by Jerry Osborne on Monday, December 31, 2012,
REALITY, WHAT IS IT? The Spiritual or REAL person is described in Galatians 5:22. He has love, joy, peace, longsuffering, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. This is what God is looking for! Let us ask our Father that all of these may be ours.

Let us lay aside that which would hinder our being filled with the Holy Spirit. For when we are filled, this fruit listed above will be ours. We are nothing; He has and is everything. If we ask our Father in Heaven, nothing wavering, He will make us ...

To Those Commencing To Tithe

Posted by Jerry Osborne on Monday, December 31, 2012,
God bless you! And He will, as you purpose that from now on, until you leave this world, the first 10% will be God’s. I have God’s Word on it, that He will open the windows of Heaven and pour out a blessing! So I am glad for you. (This is what we always taught our own children.) Of course, it makes the church stronger, because another member has become obedient in the area of his money.

I believe it is God’s plan that a church be sustained by the obedient members of the church; but whet...

A Word On Fasting

Posted by Michael La Framboise on Monday, December 31, 2012,
Last Sunday there were many questions about fasting, so I thought it good that a few things be said, that this powerful prayer aid might be better understood by our congregation.

First of all, if a person has any medical or physical condition which might be complicated by withholding food from their diet, speak with your doctor before implementing any day of fasting.

Basically, fasting is the denial of food for the purpose of fervent prayer. The idea is that whenever you crave your normal suste...

Pray For That!

Posted by Michael La Framboise on Monday, December 31, 2012,
My grandfather used to call our church to prayer in dramatic fashion. On a given Sunday Morning as he concluded his sermon, he would take the microphone from it’s holder, kneel beside his large pine wood  pulpit, remove his glasses, and say, “It’s prayer time in the old church.” He would have a deacon dim the lights and he would announce that the altar was open for prayer and that God’s people should pray. I’ll never forget those times: the way he knelt on one knee, the way he bow...
